We spent a night with friends at two of the self-catering apartments at inAWEstays, in Cape Town, last weekend. The main house (which can also be hired and sleeps 6 – 8) is located at 34 Camp Street in Gardens – so it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to the Planet Bar at the Nellie for cocktails and all the exciting restaurants on Kloof Street – a really cool location for a city stay.

Upon arrival we were welcomed with a really generous snack platter – cold meats, cheese, olives, grapes, freshly baked bread, blueberries and a pesto & dip. Just what we needed to settle in and start to relax. Well that with a bottle of wine of course. And if you need any more of a welcome Miss Ginger the chocolate lab would love a little cuddle and chat.

We stayed in the Garden Cottage, which sleeps 4 (2 in a bunk bed, so its really well suited to a family) and it’s very tastefully decorated in dark grey throughout with red accents and white linen. It’s deliciously moody and fabulous – we loved the grey glass tiles in the main bathroom. The little galley kitchen is well equipped and comes supplied with Deluxe Coffeeworks ground coffee and moka pot, blended rooibos and honeybush tea, fresh milk and the most delicious home made rusks.

Our friends stayed in the Loft Apartment which has an incredible glass entrance with a breathtaking view of Table Mountain and a little private deck for al fresco drinks in the summer. The loft is a bright and airy space decorated with touches of Delft blue and light wood. It is a fabulous solution for anyone wanting a self catering option in the city centre.

Room tip – the loft apartment has the most wonderful attic windows above the bed that you can open up for a view over the twinkling lights of the city at night. The bedroom in the loft is also further away from the road, so it lends itself to being a quieter space.
