Buff & Fellow only opened a few months ago with 2 gorgeously converted container cabins. The décor and finishes are beautifully luxurious – Frikkie has spared no expense to make sure that these cabins are top notch – think Wonki Ware crockery, the finest glassware, an indoor fireplace and even a dishwasher!

Currently there are 2 four-sleeper cabins (double and twin rooms) each with their own bathroom en-suite as well as an outside shower. And best of all a deep patio with built in braai and a wood-fired Kol-kol hot tub. It’s just heavenly to float in your heated tub with the fire going for a braai (G&T close at hand of course), overlooking the dam.  In a few weeks time they’ll be adding another 2 two-sleepers, offering a more exclusive experience for couples. They are already getting booked up pretty quickly – and we can completely understand why.

Buff & Fellow is located about 7 km from Glentana Beach and Mossel Bay, on a buffalo stud farm. The actual cabins are on the edge of a dam in a cordoned off camp with some antelope wandering freely – so expect to be surprised by a visiting nyala, springbok or bush buck. And the reeds are filled with vocal weavers and red bishops busily building their nests. Also on hand are 2 resident chickens with a very fancy-pants chicken hutch and they came to cluck at me twice a day at the back door for a healthy snack. They weren’t shy to hustle their way inside too if I wasn’t careful.

Buff & Fellow also offer some very clever extras – a self guided wine and chocolate pairing which we adored, as well as a few meals in a box options for bracing or breakfast, which would be super if you’re only there for a night and not dragging your cooler box around, a little float around the dam for sundowners, as well as a visit to the buffalos which was a wonderful experience to really get up close. Their website points you in the right direction for activities in the area – we went strawberry picking at Redberry Farm, ice cream eating at Framboos, walking and swimming at Glentana Beach and wine tasting at Jakkalsvlei (a separate post will be coming shortly on that experience).

We are so impressed with what Frikkie and his family have accomplished with these delightful cabins. They are going to be hugely successful and we’re sure, extremely popular. If ever we find ourselves in the area again, we’ll be sure to visit again.
